Wow..it seems like no one's competing this year

Looks like an easy win for CI this year
If only Morse competed this year. Could've achieved a three peat!

Anonymous said...

that's quite rude to the people who are competing

Anonymous said...

It is, but it's the truth. You can pretty much tell what the results are going to be based on regionals & west results.

So what if Morse or Carson isn't competing this year? I believe the reason why they offered a novice division for pep flags is so there's a better chance for other schools to win. Most schools in the advanced division have placed in the same spot for the past years. It's time for a change in mindset! Hoover, San Pedro, and Arcadia deserve the same respect as the top 3! Soon enough, other school may start a Pep Flag team! Should we bash on them too?

I don't mind new teams emerging, or different teams placing in top spots.
But, I am a fan of Carson and Morse. They are the two schools that I look forward to each year. I'm not interested in the style of other schools -- they're good, but not my type that I want to watch over and over again. It's quite boring for CI to win every year (though that hasn't been happening lately, fortunately), and Morse and Carson are currently the biggest competition against CI.

No one here was bashing other teams (keyword: was). We are just fans that are upset that their favorite team isn't competing this year. Especially with Morse, as their routines looked solid this year and could have even there-peated nationals.

correction, hoover does not deserve any respect. A team that copies choreography from other flag teams does not even deserve to be placed in top rankings. Hoover pulls the same choreography each year, stealing tricks and sequences from other flag teams and yet they seem to get away with it? It's about time someone calls them out for it.

Agree!! Well enough said!

Despite that Carson and Morse aren't in the competition, good luck to Hoover, Narbonne, & CI as the three teams advance to finals in both 1-flag and 2-flag divisions!

As well as Bishop Montgomery and Temple City in the novice division!

Personal critiques:
BM- you guys killed it yesterday! Just keep up the energy and watch all your passes/flag exchange/tosses!

TC- You guys have a consistent routine! Remember to hit all of your tricks and exaggerate every move!

N- As always, I'm in love with the "kill throat" visual/trick that you guys do! Also in love with how you keep your routine within the Narbonne tradition.

H- I always love your incorporation of dance into pep flags! Remember to keep up the energy despite if you drop a flag or not! You guys will do great on Sunday!

CI- I'm trying not to say this in a mean way, because it'll sound like I'm bashing. The routine is really advanced, but because there are a lot of you, remember that being in sync is key to every group! Other than that... YOUR ENDING TOTALLY CHANGED THE GAME IN PEP FLAG!

so what were the results after prelims?

Does anyone know the reason why morse and carson didn't compete?

There should be more teams in the SD area!

Carson probably didn't have enough in their team to compete or didn't have the funds to register for this season.

As for Morse, they showed up for regionals and everything when downhill when they didn't show up for West. My guess is that:

A. Morse somehow ended up not having enough people to compete for West & Nationals (team of newbies, some probably quit or weren't able to perform)
B. Their coach/advisor wanted them to wait until next year so they'll have enough competing experience
C. Not enough funds for registration

Congrats to CI!

Any videos?

Anyone notice that Carson competes EVERY OTHER year. Must be nice to have two years to practice the same routine. Even when teams know they aren't going to win they compete every single year.

Didn't Channel Islands lose at prelims to narbonne? So are they really undefeated?

Anonymous said...

1 and 2 flags:
1st - Channel Islands
2nd - Narbonne
3rd - Hoover

Novice:
1st - Glendora
2nd - Bishop Montgomery
3rd - Temple City

Good job Glendora on beating Bishop and Temple I guess...

I wonder how long USA can fool people with their bias-ness. USA wants you to think that their camp programs are working by making those who do go to their camps get 1st place in Novice (for ex: Glendora) and higher rankings in the regular category (for ex: Hoover 3rd place...). All of you guys saw their routines, I'm not saying they're horrible, but they're just not up to par with other teams like Bishop Montgomery and Temple City or Arcadia and San Pedro. Glendora's routine is 75% dance/cheer moves while Hoover's routine 75% stolen material from other schools. Their execution doesn't make up for their lack of creativity either. Nationals is just full of USA propaganda. Spend money and go to USA camps = rank higher at nationals.

I guess that's how it is with their pep flag divisions. It's a fairly small category and not really paid attention to.

Anonymous said...

I can't help but see Carson & Morse in CI now.
And it's probably just me, but I feel like CI subtly shaded Morse during that one segment before their ending song.

Anonymous said...

How did Glendora get first? Bishop, to me had a way better routine. It's just difficult to understand how you compare Glendora's style of twirling to Bishops? I mean i think it would be more understandable if Bishop had lost to Temple city, because I feel like they twirl with the same short flags technique that all the other pep flag teams do. Not to mention Bishop has always beat glendora in the past.

Anonymous said...

^^^^ If by Shaded you mean stole than yes CI "shaded" morse LOL

Anonymous said...

does anyone know what happened to LBP?

Anonymous said...

The person who wrote this is obviously a bishop alumni or supporter. I'm sorry but your girls are REALLY weak and their routine was very slow and basic. Glendora in the other hand, had more techinic in their routine and their routine was faster. I'm surprise Temple didn't beat Bishop.

Anonymous said...

^^^^^ you're in the wrong blogspot I think you're looking for the cheer one. MORE TECHNIQUE? By that you mean more booty shaking, flag waving, twerking and walking to formations right? And less tricks, sharpness and precision. Ugh ok? I'm not a bishop fan I love all the short flags in general it just grinds my gears when USA plays favorites with who brings them the most money.

It's funny how CI decides to implement morse & carson moves when they don't compete.

Anonymous said...

To the Carson comment - they competed the last two years. Unfortunately this year they succumbed to injuries and not enough members. Carson always has intent to compete every year but unfortunately circumstances didn't allow to this year. Might want to get your facts checked before you start throwing shade.

Anonymous said...

You're probably right but no one's original gotta remember that!!

Anonymous said...

I'd love to see more schools use voiceovers to introduce the team at the beginning of the routine like CI.
It would be so cool to hear "Morse Tigers!" or "Carson!" before they slay the routine and snatch CI's weaves.

Anonymous said...

As far as I'm concerned, I believe their song/Pom and Cheer competed. Lack of members? Returners? Maybe they're like some schools where they're tired of having the same results for top 3???

Anonymous said...

techinic^ argument invalid

Anonymous said...

I know these tricks were already being utilized by other divisions, but CI also "stole" Morse's lift/mound or whatever, as well as the splits + carry/lift.

Anonymous said...

No, that's not true because Carson competed in both 2014 and 2015. They actually signed up for regionals 2016 but couldn't compete because one of the girls got injured and didn't have enough girls.(This year it has to be four or more) Besides, it's a new team with new member each year (some of them leaving or graduating) and you really think they practice the same routine for two consecutive years?

Anonymous said...

I'm a Channel supporter. I thought Bishop''s routine was much better than Glendora and they had better flag techniques. Glendora looks like cheerleaders with flags. FYI. It's technique not techinic.

Anonymous said...

Not to be rude but i don't understand why glendora is in the pep flags division when they are CLEARLY the only team who doesn't march, have the same type of uniform (skirts) as the other teams, use the "mean" facial, or actually twirls their flags longer than an 8 count. Bishop and TC had better technique. I don't think its appropriate to say Bishop's team is weak when Glendora doesn't do 10x as much as the other novice division teams do (TC & Bishop)

Anonymous said...

I'm not a Glendora supporter, and quite frankly I didn't like their pep flag routine at nationals. BUT, if you haven't heard so already, their competitive spirit program is at stake right now because certain people want to get rid of it. Imagine if one of your pep flag programs were gone, and your competitors can no longer compete until someone makes a change? We get it, most of the schools other than Morse, CI, Narbonne, and Carson barely get recognition bc they don't have any national titles. But mocking and attacking one of them is even worse! And that is the sole purpose of having a novice division, so other schools can at least try getting a national title. And I understand that this is the Internet, and there's freedom of speech, but please do mind that anyone can suddenly change the game for pep flag! Remember Arapahoe couple years back? One of the many distant schools that won their national titles! LBP? But knowing that USA is very biased, they can never change. I attended nationals, and I can say that Arcadia worked really hard, but they didn't have many supporters near the performance area? As fans, we should also have good sportsmanship, just as much as the competitors. A lot of these competitive schools have various alumni to support them, and others don't. There are many pep flag schools that wish to compete, but spare their sweat and money because they already know the BIAS and competition in USA. As a fan, I only ask that we all support one another in sportsmanship.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Arcadia^^ I did notice that they had no supporters in the crowd, it was kind of disappointing to see how no one supported them. Nevertheless, I did agree that Arcadia improved, I'm a big carson supporter, and after watching years of different twirling techniques, arcadia's twirling technique has been by far one of the most unique I've seen! Quite disappointed to see that they did not rank at nationals, top three should've been CI, Arcadia and Narbonne. Hoover should not have placed, and this comes from a non biased supporter. Keep up the work Arcadia!

Anonymous said...

Support generally comes from family members and alumni. If there are other squads from the same school participating in the event, they will normally be out there too, cheering for their schoolmates. They will stop from their warm up and practice to cheer. They are the loudest among the fans. If the team is missing this fan base, then the only thing that they could expect are the normal cheer and claps from the general audience. But I don't think the fans are biased. They cheer equally, just a little bit louder when their friends are on the stage.

Bishop Montgomery and TC are like best friends in the pep flag world! So is Oxnard and CI, Arcadia and Carson, so why can't we expand this? LOL just be nice to each other, it isn't that hard, honey.
