How did Carson beat Narbonne?

dnormus said...

Carson had a clean, well executed routine with one major slip up, Narbonne started off really strong, but towards the end, it started to fall apart. If Narbonne was consistantly strong throughout their entire routine, they would have placed first in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

how many members competed for carson, narbonne, and bishop?

were the routines the same?

Anonymous said...

Carson would beat Narbonne any day really even with 4 members they still keep it together it took Narbonne the whole comp season to deliver and clean routine

This message is to all of the recently graduated pep flaggers that want to start teams at their colleges. Please respond on this blog if you will be attending UCI and want to try to start a team there.

Anonymous said...

do you actually have to be a student at UCI to be on the team?

Anonymous said...

Ya, it would be ideal if we could form a team that is for UCI and not really for people going to other colleges.

Anonymous said...

what would this team be doing? whats the fun if there is no competition? i know most teams do other things like cheer at games and stuff and maybe parades but other then that, whats the point? i would be lying if i said i wouldn't be stoked if my college had one. but once more I'm a competitor not a cheerleader.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree, however who in the world would we compete against? I don't believe UC San Diego has a competition team and even if they did, it would only be against them.. whats the fun in that? And I don't believe that you are allowed to compete at the high school level with all of the rest of the top teams. So I am trying to start a pep flag team for UCI and hopefully some of the other colleges will be interested in doing the same and then we could start doing competitions.

dnormus said...

I would have loved to compete at the college level when I was in flags at UCSD, but unfortunately there's no category in competition for college level flags, because there's no other squad to compete against... but who's to say that there never will be? It all has to start somewhere, and if creating another team at UCI or anywhere else helps out in the long run, why not right?! The more teams out there, the bigger the need for a collegiate pep flags category at competitions! We should all come together and make it happen because it's about time!!

morse twirl flags looks bomb!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZftwMy7jif8

they better go to nationals 2010!

Anonymous said...

you also have to realize that once you're in college you have a million other things going on besides pep flags and being a "competitor". priorities shift around. work/class schedules aren't going to match up with other people on your team, so it's not as easy as "ok guys! 1st period practice!"...

Anonymous said...

Im going to see if i start one at UCR, will see........

dnormus said...

It's totally do-able doing flags, going to class/studying, and working. I did it and I was a full time student too. It's a lot to get used to but it's totally worth it even if you don't compete =). Some may be skeptical but like they say, you don't know the outcome of something unless you try to do it, everything else is just talk. For those who are willing to do it, GO FOR IT! Those who think otherwise, leave the negativity off the comment board please.

Anonymous said...

Agree. If there is a will there's a way! I believe that there are plenty of high school pep flag teams that have girls going to college that we can make it work. We just need the people willing to put in the time to make it work!

Anonymous said...

i must say morse is looking verry good.. their guy is a lot better than kevin.. he's more controlled and did you see his toe touches.. wow!

Anonymous said...

i have an important question,

for the exhibition performances for the champions of pep flags, did they perform exhibition the same day they competed? ie: carson 2000,2004,2005 & channel islands 2001,2002,2003?

Anonymous said...

if you are attending Berkeley and want to be apart of cal pep flags, leave your email on here.
We have 3 people now, we are all from LA, the school you talk the most smack about on here actually. In any case step up now first game this week vs. Maryland.
if you dont have a berkeley.edu address don't respond.
Go Bears!!!!

Anonymous said...

ci alumni? same colors too. reppin the color scheme.

Anonymous said...

what school are u talkin about??????

Anonymous said...

Morse is the champs at cut and paste! I'm so jealous that they're so good at the only twirls they know how to do.

Anonymous said...

No CI girls at Cal.

Anonymous said...

cal?

Anonymous said...

i think it would be fun to twirl after high school. maybe if we all start a team at the college we're attending now we could make it an interesting competition season.

MD said...

I dont get this whole cut and paste drama? Twirls are slowly becoming repetitive, its hard to find new twirls when most of the original twirls and tricks are already taken by another school, and by using them would be considered as "STEALING". So what if they cut and paste? it was still nice wasnt it for just first performance? Bottom line cut and paste works. All routines nowadays seem like cut and paste so if your about to start trash talking, make sure you not just cite Morse But all the other main teams who cut and paste there routines.

Anonymous said...

CI, Bishop and LBP don't ever have a problem with using the same twirls over and over again and still making it look fresh and original.
teams like Arcadia and S. Pedro are making up new twirls every year and it never looks like they are "stealing" twirls.
i was actually really impressed with Crsn this year. even they added some new twists to their normal copy past routines.
don't go thinking you're a "great" team because you were in the spotlight for a WHOLE TWO years. you guys haven't been around long enough to be considered "one of the great teams"
trust me, NO ONE thinks of Morse when you use that term.

Anonymous said...

the guy is trying to do the toe touch the lbp guy did a couple years ago. it doesn't look good....

Anonymous said...

Atleast morse isnt dead with competing, and not afraid to show off there new team on youtube i dont see any other videos of 0910 teams out there.

dnormus said...

Just out of curiosity, which part of the toe touch doesn't look good?

Anonymous said...

to the person who commented about ci, lb poly, and bishop using the same twirls over and over again and that arcadia and san pedro comes up with new twirls every.....i totally disagree with you. you also said that carson added some twists to their routines. i dont know where you have been but i see no twists in carsons 2009 routine at all. i think ci and bishop are the schools that are constantly coming up with new twirls and tricks. yeah they may use some old tricks here and there but there routines from year to year looks different from their previous ones. im not hating on the whole "copy and paste" situation but hey teams has to do what they have to do to stay in the game and what they are comfortable with. but i also love how ci and bishop are thinking outside the box and giving us something new every year.

Anonymous said...

some do a BSB or NSYNC Tribute! even if it's just a noncompetitive routine!

Anonymous said...

there are some vids up of new teams. not main teams but Adolfo and that green team from up north have vids from camp.

Anonymous said...

Carson got a new style up there sleeves.... beware carson is coming hard 0910

Anonymous said...

Carson cant win with 4 girls. They were pretty good last year with 7 girls but end up losing anyways.

Anonymous said...

There's no way carson can win with 4 girls?? Well..... if you add one more you'll have a team of five... and ci dominated last years season with only five girls... and if I recall carson doesn't use all of there girls for certain comps... like in 2008 they competed with four girls and made it to nationals.. in which they had 7.... so I suggest that you don't asume a team can't win because of the amount of twirlers they have... remember it all about dedication... and flawless routines!!

Anonymous said...

Carson? Flawless? There is no such thing as a flawless routine.

Besides Bishop Montgomery 2008 and 2009.

Anonymous said...

oh wow...

carson 2006 is the only "flawless" routine i've ever seen. their movements are so strict and precise that its easier to have a flawless routine.

CI has had a few flawless (no drops and in sinc) routines but each girl has something that falls out of uniform in their body movements. (i prefer it like this over carson's drill like movements)

bishop... i cant say that i've ever been impressed by them. maybe some of their tricks but never have they had a "flawless" routine.

Anonymous said...

bishops got a white girl. that's fun! they usually quit before the school year starts.

you go white girl! all eyes will be on you so don't mess up.

Anonymous said...

Besides Bishop Montgomery 2008 and 2009.

if you're talking about both friday performances, i'd have to disagree. i see tricks being cheated.

the only routine from youtube i see myself calling flawless (as in no drops, no cheating tricks/twirls) is carson 2004 and channel islands 1998, 2009...

the person referring carson 2006, there was a drop and fumble in their 3 flag

it's my opinion so don't attack me

MORSE IS LOOKING LIKE A CHAMPION ALREADY! this season is going to be intense

Anonymous said...

narbonne 2002 nationals also fits in my flawless category

Anonymous said...

Hey does anyone have narbonnes solo and duet routines.. if so can you please post them?

Anonymous said...

why do people ask people to post routines? its like saying

"hey can i steal twirls?"

if you want the videos go to the competitions, record and post them yourself.

Anonymous said...

Wow that comment wasnt called for... i actually attended narbonne high school.. and I'm a very big fan of small flags aka sfc... I can't make the competions because I have a lot going on.. and I can never find the time to check them out... I'm sorry for wanting to see my favorite pep flag team I've noticed bishops solo ...and I just wanted to see narbonnes... if no one can post it that's fine.. ill be around to see there 0910 routine :)

Anonymous said...

But those of us whom are no longer in Southern California we have no way of attending the comps or other functions what then? We want to see our what are beloved sport has going on.
In my current situation you don't have to worry about any stealing of moves, the white and asian girls here are into color guard and like looking like retarded dancers. And they prefer line dancing lol

Anonymous said...

what difference does it make if you post routines or go to comps and record for yourself. if youre going to steal moves, youre going to steal moves. its obvious what school has been studying other moves/routines for years!

Anonymous said...

in a way i understand why that comment was uncalled for. but i also see the other side of the spectrum. it sucks you guys cant make it out here to see your teams. but its crazy out here girls, people be ALL up on routines!

monte vista did too at nationals.

but anyways! there seems to be allot of new teams out there.

there are also some new uniforms too. i hope this is a really good and colorful competition season.

narbonne already has a team... the teams that competed at camp are the teams that are gonna compete this year. narbonne performed at sharp, so they already have a team...

Anonymous said...

Actually, cheer started that stunt years ago and CI stole it from them. Btw, SO WHAT IT IS JUST A RALLY! Get over yourselves!!

Anonymous said...

wow adolfo copyrillo to the max! even bishop's new flag pattern!

Anonymous said...

its football season? i don't think Josh would do any of this for competition. why don't you guys think of it as props rather than lack of creativity cuz i don't remember a single stolen move at regionals or DTU last year. so you guys need to calm down before you decide to get crazy on a genuinely kind and charismatic group of girls and a genuinely sweet and creative guy

Anonymous said...

because bishop is original.

Anonymous said...

no one said they're not original?

Anonymous said...

ano bayan?! that person who hates camarillo so much needs attention!!! para namang big deal yung flags and some stunts! theyre not gonna use that for the competition anyways. besides, i thought theyre "just" camarillo, so why give a d@mn. tama diba??

Anonymous said...

o o naman! mag co-competition ba si camarillo? para silang walang alam. i laughed at them sa routine nila sa DTU kasi yong member nila, para walang alam. nakakatuwa

Anonymous said...

oh yeah? di ako kasi masyado familair pa gaano sa short flags. nafascinate lang kao while a friend brought me to watch a competition.cam is ok naman. i guess because the girls are pretty new. huwag ka naman harsh.bakit ba galit ka sa cam!? lol

Anonymous said...

can we speak english on there..

I firmly believe this year is going to be another Narbonne, Carson, Channel Islands, Bishop year. Who will take the title? The 4 strongest teams in the West. All other teams base their routine's off these "Classic 4" teams, but only other teams can become as strong as the "Classic 4" and put thier name high on the marquee.

The "Classic 4" are the inventors of what Pep Flags is today. They have redefined Pep Flags, bringing it national attention, always striving to be the best, and creating new inventive moves. However, pep flags wouldn't be what it is today without these "Classic 4" teams.

Sure they may be slipping from having a strong reputation, but no one in the pep flag world has forgotten thier names. Only other teams can steal their fame and bring a new light to the pep flag world. Good luck girls! This year is going to be an intense and fierce year.

Anonymous said...

Sure they maybe the classic 4 but what about the underdogs? Have you seen Morse's practice video they look pretty damn good just for practice? Sure they may have been based from the classic 4 but i feel as if Long Beach Poly and Morse should be equally titled just as much as ci bishop carson and narbonne are. They might not have been around as long as the classic but they can sure hang with the big dogs such as CI BISHOP AND CARSON.

Anonymous said...

I feel that the top 4 are narbonne, bishop, ci, and carson. the next four would be poly, morse, pedro, and oxnard...

Anonymous said...

Oxnard 0607 was pretty good what happened to them 0708? and then the absence of 0809? At least morse went to regionals and made nationals but i bet they couldnt go cause of the administration or something, but oxnard? what a no show.

Anonymous said...

people need to know now!

I LOVE CHANNEL ISLANDS SHORT FLAGS!

just sayin

Anonymous said...

oxnard twirlaholics did not have a team for '08-'09 season. i hope they come back this year's season. '06-'07 was really good.

Anonymous said...

i'm sorry but classic 4 was a decade ago when all 4 schools got a taste of the nationals title and ms drill (exception of carson)

Fierce 5 is Channel Islands, Carson, Long Beach Poly, Morse, Bishop Montgomery.

I may offend many of you but Narbonne needs to start bringing new dish instead of the same old guacamole sauce.

Channel Islands brought exotic but great pizza, Carson hbrought hot & sweet spicy chicken enchilada, LBP finally brought sweet mashed potato fries, Morse brought sweet & spicy baby back ribs, and Bishop Montgomery finally brought chicken adobo. These 5 is feasting while no team has touched Narbonne's traditional guacamole. Yeah, they added more spices this year but it's still lacking.

Anonymous said...

hindi hate si camarillo. wala silang creativity, yun lang. bakit mo gusto si camarillo? kapatid kaba?

Anonymous said...

Hahahah Lovin the Fierce 5!!! now thats wassup with 2010! i really feel like that will be the top 5 for nationals this year! If morse went it would of been that exactly but glendora was chosen instead! ahahah

Anonymous said...

creativity-wise, theyre are creative naman. each of the teams, i guess, has shown their own signature "whatever" all the time but just because they 'copied' the design, it doesnt automically mean na they dont have the creativity, like what your saying. somebody has already explained here that theyre not gonna use it for the competition. also, theres no rule that says anyways that nobody can 'copy' 'immitate' or even 'pattern their flags' from other teams' design. true, code of ethics maybe an issue, but who cares. this is not the actual competition kaya relax kalang.

and by the way, di ako kapatid. theres no pinoy in camarillo team right?? it just happen that a close friend was in that team a long time ago and until now, i can see them trying their best to compete fairly.

Anonymous said...

PS i wrote the thread at this time October 5, 2009 9:05 PM.

just to clarify, im not affiliated to camarillo, coz CI is the best!!!

no doubt.

Anonymous said...

and for that somebody who said 'talk english on here'.... shut up...THIS IS A FILIPINO SPORT.

Anonymous said...

okay sure there not gunna use it competition but just the fact that they used it in a routine should be enough. And on top of that it was posted on you youtube. Okay theres no rule of imitating but im pretty sure they would still of had the same type of flags they had 0809 if bishop didnt come with the new pattern and im pretty sure they wouldnt of though of doing the leg mount without ci doing it in 09 as well. So they may not be using it in a competition routine but they copied Ci and used it in a routine. They tried taking an idea that only imitators can do.

Anonymous said...

it should be a rule to keep your arms up when twirling because twirling with ur elbows down looks retarded and stupid. Only the NO BUENO schools twirl with there arms down! ahaahha Adolfo Copyrillo!

Anonymous said...

okey, ibigyan ko ang chance si camarillo. but i have to say it, yung performance nila sa DTU, walang kwenta! the DVD is such a waste of pera. putang ina. hoy, sports flag is not a FILIPINO SPORT? ano ka naman diba mayron mga puti atcha mexicans sa pep flags. diba may run negro sila channel islands and san pedro. hindi ka magsabi na filipino sport kasi hindi. magaling ang mga filipino pero magaling rin yong mga mexicans... only from channel islands and carson lang hindi si bell.

Anonymous said...

bastos ka! magaling yong mexicans at narbonne rin. pero, as a team, hindi magaling.

Anonymous said...

3 more months until classics.
4 more months until regionals!

hello flag season!

can bishop montgomery compete at socal please!

Anonymous said...

joshua trickey here (forgot log it -_-")

i guess i should explain myself and why i copied other teams this football season. you guys are gonna think its really retarded but here goes.

every year we are in constant competition with our schools cheer and tall flags. (no its not a friendly competition, we all hate each other with a dire hardcore passion, absolutly NO "unity")and the only way to beat them out is if we're flashy and really out there. its the only way to get all the white peoples out here's attention.

NE WAYS

our signature flags are navy with a white stripe down the middle, you all saw that at regionals and those of you who went to la mirada. THEY'RE BLAN for football games and rallys, but i like to keep it simple. so that's why i thought of how cool bishops flags are. i would like to take this time to give bishop their props. thank you for helping my girls stand out.

Anonymous said...

now the stunt

its basically the same reason. except allot of it was to push my girls. that part of our school fight song changes every year. its usually a chaser sequence. but this year we opted to do a stunt. but as me and our teams advisor where looking through a small packet we received at camp and we came across the thigh stand in question. truth is i did recognize it right away but i chose to do it anyways.

CI, you won nationals and where tops scorers at DTU. you had to see it coming ^_^ i wouldn't have copied if i didn't think it was worth copying, if i didn't think camarillo audiences wouldn't like it. now before it sounds like I'm kissing too much @ss i would like to give you your props too & thanks

now guys bottom line i stole small parts of something that other people more or lass worked hard for and truth is i do feel a little guilty. would i call it out if someone stole form me? Heck yea i would! but its time to squash this without putting down my girls for something i did. I'm formally apologizing and it wont happen in future seasons. is there anything else anyone would like to hear?

Anonymous said...

you are so cute!

Anonymous said...

bakit ka nag explain dito josh? hindi mo ba alam na mag speech ka sa regionals in front of everyone? mag sorry ka sa maraming audience, hindi dito the spotblog. wala ka bang alam? nag props ka kay channel islands atcha ka si bishop after nag sorry ka? its the other way around. mag props ka then mag sorry ka. kung nag competition kayo kay tall flags and cheer, di mag competition kayo sa escuela nyo. hindi sa youtube for how many views your video has.

Anonymous said...

hindi cute. it's panget!

to josh said...

basically, youre just full of BS trying to say you copy them as a compliment? you should just admit you suck as a coach/choreographer and you have no original ideas. thats why you copied CI, Bishop and maybe more that we havent seen!

Anonymous said...

i dont really care that teams are borrowing moves, every school does, but if they do, atleast change it up and make it look different so it suits your routine

Anonymous said...

didn't san Pedro steal bishops flag disign last year? no one is getting on their case? the new flag disgn arent even that original; they're a twist on CI's pattern.
he even said that yes CI did the move but he didn't even think to do it till USA gave him the idea? you guys it took balls to humble himself before all of us so cut the guy some slack.

TO STUPID ANONYMOUS said...

in the first place, learn how to spell DESIGN before posting a comment here..haha YOURE STUPID!!

Anonymous said...

"he even said that yes CI did the move but he didn't even think to do it till USA gave him the idea?"

what about their open house routine that looked like channel islands 2007 routine? is that his reason as well?

i don't think so. he probably thought of using the mount after he saw it at regionals?

Anonymous said...

be flashy and creative. not copy to look flashy. competition within your own schools extra curriculum is stupid. at least your pep flag team competes at popular competitions so i don't think you should compete with your own school. understand that people doesn't like everything. if they weren't interested in pep flags before, what makes you think they will fall in love with channels mount or bishops design? it's not the mount or design you should be copying, you should be copying CLEANLINESS.

i suggest you start learning facials first. take it one step at a time. start copying when they are on bishops or channels level.

Anonymous said...

I agree, You guys should do some serious clean up cause you guys do not look the business.

Anonymous said...

Don't compare bishop with channel. It's a complete insult. Nor with Narbonne, or Carson. Please!!!

Anonymous said...

Uhm, excuse me, whoever made the comment, this is America. We don't need you saying this is a
"filipino sport". A sport is a sport. So speak freakin English so we can understand you.
~~
Don't compare Narbonne, Bishop, and Carson with CI? Oh God, get over yourself.
~~
I heard 2 white girls made Bishop. Is it just one or two?

Anonymous said...

Its two white girls for Bishop. (:

Go white girls! Kick some ass!

Anonymous said...

Two. (:

Anonymous said...

It is fair to compare Narbonne, Carson, Bishop, and Channel. They have been around the longest and have evolved from each other.

Plus I bet none of you even know who the first pep (short, small) flag team was!?

On a brighter note.
Good luck and congrats to everyone trying out and starting pep flag teams at the collegiate level. That's how you do it! Hopefully in the next few years college teams will be able to compete and make a name for themselves, just like Carson, Bishop, Channel, and Narbonne did all those years ago.

Anonymous said...

personally i think ci isnt that great.
i bet if carson learned ci's routine
tey wood probably b as good as them
and narbonne's 08-09 really steped
it up, but it cood of been cleaner
i still love them <333
there gooooood :D

Anonymous said...

Even though Camarillo stole Ci's stunt who cares its like Cam can do it better seriously guys they are a joke compared to EVERY other team thats out there. I know that may seem harsh to camarillo but they dont even know how to construct an amazing piece remember last years DTU performance? embarrassing. And if they would take stuff at least make it unrecognizable like other people said.
